Does anyone have any recommendations for when you're struggling to sustain a writing practice because you're really sick of your own voice, and you know that the solution to that should be to experiment writing with radically different voices, yet you also somehow can't figure out how to do that either?
Craft exercises and texts would be really helpful, but perhaps also just some palate cleanser texts overall?
Of course I know that all of one's writing ultimately comes from oneself, but is there just no respite?
Please let me know.
Also, here are some things I've been meaning to link / bookmark and post here:
My friend Lucas' translation of 6 poems by Soledad Fariña.
The Radcam 12—who occupied the Oxford University Radcam library in January 2025 to demand the university respond to calls to divest from israel's genocide—have been charged in court. They are raising funds to help cover the hundreds of pounds of fines they must pay, as well as costs related to court travel and loss of income. Any remaining amount will be donated to mutual aid initiatives in Gaza. Please donate here. My poem 'Saturday 25 January 2025 at 10pm', published in Shankpainter and republished in the Gaza fundraiser pamphlet A Poem is A Garden, vol 2, was written in response to this occupation.
I (along with other friends) helped Amu edit and write an essay for The Key about direct action, the experience of incarceration, and the contradictions of running for office from within prison. With enormous thanks to Mariam.
Another piece with Amu will be coming out with Abolitionist Futures soon!
